Your Essential Reading list is what the Bible is to a minister: it is hard to be a good preacher if you’ve never read the Bible. Two books that should be on your essential reading list are The Prince, by Machiavelli and The Art of War, by Sun Tzu. Your daily preparation and reading ritual, however, is more than a couple books. As a candidate is it essential that you be informed, current on news, be prepared to comment on foreign and national events as well as events in your community or state.
